I had great fun recording it. It's got some crazy post production stuff like pitch shifting random stuff off the internet to make the samples fit the key I'm singing in. And, I like to create a soundscape with melodies and counter melodies, so the song has a certain ... "mood", you can say.
Video storyline
So a guy goes to a dentist. In the waiting room, he notices a girl, and she smiles at him. She's got braces. So when the guy is on the dentist chair, as the dentist starts his drill, the camera goes in to the big dentist's light, fades to white, and the song begins. We find the guy in a meadow, with grass, trees and hills. Except, the tree is in the shape of a tooth, with leaves on top. There are animals around, big and small, and, you guessed it, in the shape of teeth. There are birds in the sky, that's right, shaped like teeth. He sees the girl from afar, like a silhouette, and follows her.
So he walks around in a dream like sequence, following the girl, seeing various day to day things shaped like teeth. Towards the end, he sees a big glowing orb like tooth. He stands next to it, and (song timestamp 2:00 min) looks into it. He sees him and the girl, walking hand in hand with a child in the middle. Just as the song ends, the child turns around and smiles. Sure enough, he's got braces.
He wakes up from the dream, still in the dentist chair. The song has an acoustic epilogue. So now the guy walks back into the waiting room. The girl is talking to someone, and looks up at him as the epilogue ends. The guy smiles, and now he has braces.
Side note: will Colgate or some other company be willing to sponsor something like this? I think someone who makes braces might ...
